2025 AMP

AMP turned out to be a better weekend then we expected. Years past have not been kind to us at AMP. The past couple of years we received a black flag for sound almost every race we started (some was due to contact from others). Either way going into this event we absolutely did not want to be taken out of the race due to sound again. We went a bit overkill on the muffler but we didnt fail sound for once!! Problem though was the back pressure killed boost….

Saturday started off uneventful and the car felt good outside of being down on power from the lack of boost. The car responded well to the larger tires we had for this event. This was our first race making the jump from 225’s to 245’s. They seemed to give a bit more grip but more than that the car was more forgiving. Making a mistake was less costly in comparison to years past and allowed the limit to be pushed more consistently. Lacking a bit of power made utilizing the gear set more important to rev the engine out. This was not made easy as we were starting to struggle to find 1st/2nd gate as well as 5th. Post race it was found that our shifter assembly in the car had cracked adding a ton of compliance to the system. All that said the day was largely uneventful and we went green flag to checkered flag without a major issue. We brought it home 7th overall and 2nd in class!! Our best finish to date.

After the Saturday’s race we had high hopes for Sunday. Ryan came up on the end of his first 2 hour stint and was running out of fuel right at 1 hour and 55 mins. With the decreased lap times and less caution the initial thought was our mileage was less than it had been on Saturday. While that may have been partially true that was not the root cause for why we ran out of fuel…. The car took way less fuel during the pit stop than expected based on the surge tank being empty. After roughly 20mins the car was sputtering again, starving for fuel. The lift pump took a shit. Not an impossible repair to do at the track but not an easy one either. We decided to call it for the weekend and pack it up.

Overall we checked a lot of boxes and made progress on the championship. We moved up from 8th to 6th overall in the points standings. The wider tire/wheel combination was a big positive. The muffler setup got us to not see a single black flag for sound. Our new rear brake setup felt great and lost some weight! And lastely brought home another trophy!

Next up is a short turn around for VIR full course end of June!
